Here are a few tips when reading food labels: 1Ingredients are listed in order of amount, i. Start by analysing the ingredient that is the most familiar to you and gain as much information as you can about it.
Check the list of ingredients and always opt for fresh foods that are low in saturated fat, trans fatty acids, sodium and sugar, and higher in fibre. For instance, making your own mayonnaise is far healthier than the store bought mayonnaise. The creative workshops are aimed at pupils aged six to 14, as well as the more serious business arena. Whether it is crafts, music, dance or drama, Jane and Shelley are the perfect duo to facilitate these workshops and bring their own talents in gumboot and hiphop dancing, radio, clowning and so many more elements of the performing arts world. Aside from hosting these performing arts workshops, Jane and Shelley will also run ladies mornings, which feature creative activities, spoils and tons of fun.
We recently had a workshop where we used the illustration of women being the buttons that hold families together - so each woman made a button key ring to remind them of this. Both Jane and Shelley are new moms Jane has a month-old son, Cooper and is pregnant with twins due in September and Shelley has a one-yearold named Sam and they even cater for moms-to-be.
Their ultimate goal is to extend into various different spectrums, including dinner parties and book clubs and celebrating all things creative and Jane and Shelley also plan to offer ARTvark as a weekly, monthly or a once-off extra curricular school activity.
We want to provide carte blanche for the creative souls who want to go into arts and drama after school or even for adults who have always wanted to sing or act - it is a push-and-pull industry, which is very hard to get into once you leave school.

She was originally a kitchen designer, and it was her seven-year-old son Thailen who encouraged Ballito mom Lewaine to take over the after-school kids cooking classes, when a friend was selling the business a year and a half ago. Both Lewaine and her husband, Anton are passionate about cooking, so it was just a case of researching some easy, child-friendly recipes and getting going.
There are eight classes per term and according to Lewaine, the kids learn to make a variety of easy meals that they can make at home and pop into their lunch boxes.
If there are no ovens on site Lewaine takes a few little portable ovens along with her, as well as all the pre-measured ingredients, bowls, spoons and everything they need to make their dish.
If there is any grating or chopping involved I will do it with them if they need help. While their dish is cooking, Lewaine keeps the kids entertained with crafts and activities. Fine Young Cooks is R70 a lesson or R a term for eight lessons Lewaine also offers basic and advanced domestic cooking courses at her home in Ballito.
The basic classes include hygiene in the kitchen, basic techniques and simple family meals. It is a six-week course, with two dishes a week, from 9. The ladies can take home whatever they cooked, which is usually enough for a family of four. The cost is R a lesson or R1 for six weeks.
Each lady also receives a file with all the recipes and a book on cooking terminology, hygiene, utensils and how to properly pack your fridge and cupboards. Fine Young Cooks will host a three-day holiday club for kids between the ages of seven and 14 years old. The children will learn to make a three-course meal each day! His aim was to create the most exclusive and illustrious supercar club in the country, as well as a platform for supercar owners to come together a few times a year and share ideas and experiences related to their hobby.
Members qualify for excellent negotiated insurance premiums, financing from leading banks, excellent prices for supercar kits and tyres and access to the best supercar trade deals via the supercarclub. In just over a year the Umhlanga Supercar Club has already attracted over members and the very recently opened Johannesburg branch has over 30 members. The Supercar Club is open to everyone and there is no membership fee. IBV and Supercar Club public relations officer and former Miss South Africa finalist Grace Rheeders coordinates the events that the club hosts for their members three or four times a year.
According to Grace, IBV will launch a Supercar club in Cape Town later this year and their aim is to eventually have over 1 members across the country, making them the largest leisure sports car club in the country. Eventually they hope to go global. In fact, you just have to go to Gateway. The only requirement is that you own a supercar.

Clea Daiber's Tabula Africa fills a room with old newspapers, a brick turret, and a small scale model of tourists in trucks making videos of a curio elephant. Stephen Maqashela, who provided one of the knockout pieces at the Amsterdam show, and whose work is the first to greet the viewer who enters block B of the Castle, has pinched clay into an expressive mass of small figures who, face down and crawling, struggle through a bed of ashes towards the rolled up end of a grey felt carpet which they must presumably scramble over to proceed along the carpet and eventually reach a backlit Bill of Rights.
It reads as an expression of the difficulties of transformation for the ordinary man. In Amsterdam, in the Baggage Hall where part one of the exhibition was held, Bridget Baker presented a piece which was a large potted plant on a mechanised base, which moved and twirled itself through the exhibition viewers, every now and then emitting a little female voice, saying, "Take good care of yourself"'.
Baker has a lateral approach, a sureness and a lightness of touch which is quite unique, and her presence on the South African art scene, where so much work exhibits an alarming sameness of thought process, is of enormous value. For the Castle show, Baker followed up the Amsterdam piece by preparing a square arena on the floor of one room.
Here, vases of flowers, roughly arranged, careen around on wheeled bases, colliding and getting stuck like driverless dodgem cars. The piece is absurd, charming, and can be read in many ways, but mainly, it is a comment on the unpredictability of life, particularly in South Africa, where one does what one can to present a good face and do the necessary to survive, but chaos may be, and probably is, waiting round the corner.
This unpredictability is not necessarily bad, it can be wonderful, and joyous, and gives life an edge that makes it difficult for South African artists to settle down in the blander atmosphere of northern societies. Baker's piece was perhaps at its best on opening night, when all the flowers were fresh and all the bases were working, but it was the artist's intention that the flowers would take the course of nature and die, and that should mechanical failure occur and the vases come to a standstill, well, that would just be part of the inevitable process of the piece.Daehnke presents a series of protection postcards from both countries, suspending them from products from opposite sides of one mistake, and cutting away all the detail of events and landscapes from each other.
